Halloween
Posted by
Stoddard Family
I haven't posted for awhile so I need to backtrack to the weekend before Halloween where we participated in Make a Difference Day! Our ward volunteered to pick up trash and clean out the creek in one of the parks in O'Fallon. It was great to do some service for our new community as well as teach Brooklyn about keeping the parks clean and doing service. Brooklyn didn't really want to pick up the trash (beacuase it's dirty and she is all little bit OCD about being clean) but she had no problem finding and pointing out all the trash for us to pick up. After we cleaned the park the city of O'Fallon put on a big luncheon for all the volunteers. It was a little cold but we had a great time as a family and found out more about O'Fallon and the fun places to play.
Now on to Halloween events. On the 30th I took the kids in their costumes down to Mark's work. Brooklyn had a great time trick or treating at the cubicles and checking out all the fun stuff at daddy's office. Then we went to lunch with Mark. Brooklyn really enjoyed that and keeps asking to go back. That night Mark and I attended our ward adult only Halloween party. I found my high school cap and gown and went as a graduate and Mark went as an Eagle Scout. We had a great time there and met lots of new people. The kids did great with our new babysitter Rosie(otherwise called Susie and Babylady by Brooklyn). But we sure miss Rachel our South Dakota babysitter. On Halloween Mark carved one of the pumpkins in honor of the World Series. Go Yankees!
When it finally got dark we took both kids trick or treating. After taking Brady to 4 houses I took him home to pass out candy while Mark took Brooklyn through part of our neighborhood. Brooklyn had a great time and only came home because her basket was full. After she got home she passed out candy to the kids that came. Everytime more kids would come, Brooklyn would say, "my friends are here." The next day Brooklyn got to check out all the candy she got. It was so cute to see her dump it all out and start sorting everything by type of candy and then count it. I remember doing that as a kid and it was so funny to watch her do that all on her own. That pretty much sums up our Halloween. Here in St. Louis we found out that most people sit in their driveway with a portable fire pit and hang out with neighbors instead of waiting inside for kids to ring the door bell. We hope everyone had a Happy Halloween.

Adorable costumes. I love the tradition of sitting in the driveway with a fire pit. Might use that idea sometime. Love ya
They are too cute...sounds like you guys are settling in pretty well :)
What cute costumes!
